At this school I have realized that I am a very unique person, not many other people have the same interests as me. Most people are either really into sports or into theater, not hunting and fishing, back home there were other people who shared the same interests that I have. I was used to being able to wake up and going outside to either hunt or fish, it is very new to me to be stuck in a dorm room in the middle of a campus where I can do neither. Though, the things that my peers are interested in make them unique too. Everyday I walk through campus and see someone I don't know doing something interesting, so far this week I have seen a man tightroping by the mansion and another guy in the treetops by the student center. It may seem weird but at the same time I was very intrigued, because I takes great skill and a good imagination to even think about doing either of those activities. The actions that they were partaking in made them very interesting and unique people.
In the passage How to Tame a Wild Tongue, Anzaldua explains how her heritage is being destroyed. She is one of the most unique persons I know, she continued to stay stubborn and refused to give up her natural tongue. She went through pain and harassment to achieve her goals of keeping her Chicana language. Because Anzaldua was so unique she was able to disregard everything that her parents and teachers attempted to teach her.
In today’s society there are great examples of people being unique in both good and bad way. A great example of children being unique are a set of identical twins, parents learn to differentiate the difference between them by there uniqueness. One may act differently or like other things compared to the other. Another great example of a unique person is Pablo Picasso, the famous artist from Spain. He was so unique he made paintings that no one in his time had ever imagined. Through his uniqueness he brought happiness to people when they looked at his paintings, and still has this affect on people 40 years after his death. Unlike some other people who were very unique such as Hitler and Stalin, though they were very bad people they were very unique. Both leaders were ruthless and bold, each had the same goal of expanding the territories of which they ruled. This thought eventually lead to action and the death of many people.
To conclude, being unique is the most important character trait to me because it defines you as a person. Uniqueness will make someone stand out in a crowd and define who you are and what kind of person you are. Though many people may be scared to express their feelings, the small actions that they do make them different from their peers. Being unique is a necessity to having an identity, and setting that identity apart from others.
